What a weekend! We sure started my summer vacation off with a bang. After a busy weekend, I think tomorrow will be a rest day. Inspired by margie’s blog, I am going to show a little about our weekend with pictures…
Vacation started Friday with an early morning appointment at the pediatric neurosurgeon at Womens and Childrens hospital in Buffalo. Zoey has had some extra-cranial fluid towards the front of her brain in between her brain & skull since we discovered it when she was 6 months old. Dr’s generally don’t know why some kids are born with extra fluid. We’ve been keeping a close eye on her development and head circumference and now we are seeing her head size plateau. We checked in and found out that she’s not quite plateaued enough to get to the curve, so we will check in again in 4 months. Once she merges onto the normal curve we can stop the check ups w Dr. L and keep an eye on her until she’s 6 and her cerebral valves fully open and balance out fluid levels on their own. She was very good as usual and thrilled to get 2 stickers and have some alone mommy time. We also stopped for a “baby donut” treat on then way home to celebrate.
After we got home, we hustled on over to the park with Aunt Chris and Uncle Bill and ran their legs off with a picnic lunch too. Fast forward to nap time and I completed some work for th museum of science that’s been hanging around on the proverbial plate.
Saturday was a fathers day do-over so JD chose to take Lucy to the movies to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. She was beyond excited! I took the opportunity to do something cool with just my 2 cuties and trotted on over to the Museum Of Science meeting up with the Creeds since it was raining out. The hands on science area for the youngest kids is my girls’ favorite. The big hits this time were the magnet table and stream table. We also checked out the new robotic dinosaur exhibit, which I thought was kinda “underwhelming” and smaller and less of a rich experience than I expected, but my almost 2 yr old girls loved. Stella talked and pointed feverishly the whole time and Zoey was a little more cautious. However, my favorite part of the visit was the ride home.

Sunday started off with blueberry pancakes and me being lazy. Thanks to coffee, we all got to the zoo and enjoyed some lunch and animal gawking. Sometimes I get a little bored with the zoo because we visit a lot, but our kids love it and could go everyday. We loved looking at the baby armadillo in the rainforest house, watching meerkats, playing on the playground and shoveling hay in the barn.
Who doesn’t feel the urge to be naked while visiting the Zoo? btw.. we do feed her even though you can see all her ribs! by dettbarn
Home we went tired out and during nap time, I strung peas, weeded around veggies and pried weeds from cement cracks with a screwdriver and molding puller. A tasty dinner was followed by a wonderful evening of everyone getting along, which has been insanely rare lately with the twins approaching 2 and realizing they can influence their environment and each other (often in negative ways lately)! More on that in another post…After a looong do-over weekend: Happy Father’s Day JD! Love you!
Now, I am exhausted! BUT, I am going to try and blog more frequently to chronicle this summer together, if only for my kids to have later to read as they grow. Keep an eye here and watch our summer adventures!

welcome back, bitties!
